Heerman's Gulls (larus heeermanni) are 17-20 inches long. Franklin's Gulls (larus pipixcan) got their name from Sir John Franklin. They're 14-16 inches long. Bonaparte's Gulls (larus philadelphia) were named after Napoleon Bonaparte's nephew Charles Lucien Bonaparte. Their length is 12 -14 inches.
