A small percentage of people are susceptible to epileptic seizures when watching flashing lights or images on computer or TV monitors. Anybody who has had seizures or other symptoms linked to an epileptic condition should see a physician before viewing computer or Internet images.
If parents observe convulsions, altered vision, eye or muscle twitching, involuntary movements, loss of awareness, or disorientation in their children when they play on the computer or the Internet, discontinue their use of the computer and consult a physician.
To reduce the possibility of seizure while playing on the computer or Internet, do the following:
- Do not play if you are tired
- Play in a well lit room
- Take a 10-15 minute break at least once an hour
- Stay as far away from the monitor as possible
- Use as small a monitor as possible
